About Us



WAY Fund Managers Limited (WFM) was formed in 2000, by experienced entrepreneurial leaders from the intermediary and fund management sectors, initially with the aim of providing a home for Funds where the Sponsor was WAY Investment Services Limited, a sister firm to WFM, but also to promote similar services to third party asset managers. In April 2001 WFM launched its first fund for a non-Group asset manager and, as at June 2019, is the operator of 36 funds for 10 such entities. These funds are a mixture of UCITS and Non-UCITS Retail Schemes. WFM has a highly experienced and motivated staff, based in Wimborne in Dorset, which is very close to the south coast of England and the coastal town of Bournemouth.

Vince Hoare

CEO


Vince has been working in the financial services sector since 1980 when he joined Arbuthnot Securities Limited, where he undertook both transfer agency and fund accounting administration roles. He worked for Old Mutual for 15 years between 1985 and 2000, helping to establish Old Mutual Fund Managers Limited and subsequently in management roles relating to Old Mutual’s transfer agency and technical areas. Vince joined WAY Fund Managers Limited (WFM) in October 2000 as Operations Director to set up its operation as a manager of collective investment schemes. In June 2013 Vince became a Director of the newly-acquired Fund Partners Limited (formerly IFDS Managers Limited) and then in August 2015 became a Director of WFM’s sister company, Investor Administration Solutions Limited (IAS), which provides transfer agency and registration service to WFM and to third party firms. He was appointed Co CEO of WFM and IAS in December 2016 and is now CEO of both firms.

Chris Oliver

Head of Risk & Compliance


For the first half of his career, he worked as a qualified accountant within the financial services industry and, whilst working for an investment management company during the early stages of financial services regulation, he also became the firm’s Compliance Officer and Company Secretary. More regulatory and compliance experience followed: including working for IMRO (one of the FCA predecessor firms), an investment manager / unit trust manager and a depositary. Chris is a keen cyclist and completed a London to Paris event before he watched the final stage of the Tour de France. Since then he has tried to get faster, but came to the realisation that he would never be able to ride as fast as the professionals unless he could use an e-bike!


Carl Farman

Client Relationship Manager


Carl began his career in financial services when he joined JP Morgan Chase in 2007 after completing a Graduate Scheme with Enterprise Rent A Car. In 2010 Carl joined WAY Fund Managers Limited as a Fund Administrator. By 2014 Carl had progressed to become the manager of the Transfer Agency operation and was responsible for all aspects of the team. In July 2017 Carl became a Client Relationship Manager with a responsibility for servicing WAY’s existing clients and to help develop future business opportunities

Adam Cran

Investment Oversight Manager


Adam joined WAY Fund Managers Limited (WFM) in 2011 and has progressed from his position as Investment Administrator to his current role as Head of Investment Oversight, gaining a comprehensive understanding of investment operations and regulatory oversight along the way. Adam is currently responsible for the oversight of the WFM funds and their delegate investment managers. Since joining the firm, Adam has attained the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate (IMC).


Ruth Darling

Oversight Manager


Ruth has been working with WAY Fund Managers for 7 years and, her current role is Oversight Manager for the delegated fund accounting and distribution functions, in addition to being the Group's incumbent Data Protection Officer. Ruth has worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 20 years seeing the industry travel from self regulation to the intense focus being put on it by the regulator now. She has been involved in regulatory activity oversight in insurance, mortgages and investment sectors. Ruth's current role is to assist the Board in evidencing the Firm's compliance with regulatory obligations, while supporting the business in providing the customer with the level of care and service that we would all expect to be given. Ruth is the proud mother of an adult daughter and son with two adorable grandchildren. For most of her life she's been involved with some kind of equine or canine activity, but for the fun of it and not for competition; somehow at one time finding herself with 4 ponies, two dogs, two children and a husband to clean up after in all weather conditions. Having semi-retired down to just the one pony and two dogs now, for her there is still nothing better than the joy and freedom that she feels from them when she lets them race through the forest (which makes up for the clean up duties!).

Ross Darlow

Fund Technical


Ross is our Fund Technical Manager who provides technical input to the business, chairs the Product Governance Committee and is heavily involved in any fund projects such as launches, closures, mergers, registrations in overseas jurisdictions, development of existing products and regulatory change. Upon graduating from the University of Manchester in 2006, Ross began his financial services career working for JP Morgan Chase in its Global Custody business on trade capture, initiation and settlement. He then moved into project work for the Custodian’s Operations and Strategic Development team as a Business Analyst. Greater project team experience followed with a move to Capita in the Life and Pensions business 2011 where as a Project Analyst he worked on annuity and pension books. Ross joined WAY in 2013 and one of his first tasks was to assist in the work relating to the migration and rebranding of a group of newly-aquired funds. Ross very much enjoys the getting out on a sunny weekend to make the most of living near Bournemouth’s beaches and having the New Forest and Dorset’s Jurassic Coast close by. He enjoys paddle boarding, is a keen scuba diver and likes to have holiday adventures to foreign shores to see amazing marine life or explore a sunken wreck!

Michelle Martin

Compliance Manager


Michelle has over 21 years experience in the Financial Services industry and started her career working in Pensions Accounting. Prior to joining WFM she led teams covering a variety of processes including unit trust administration and offshore product administration. Michelle also spent a period of time on secondment leading an Incident Rectification team, this role was to ensure that breaches and incidents were identified and resolved, with robust preventative measures implemented. Michelle joined WFM in 2016 in the role of Compliance Manager, her main focus and areas of expertise being Financial Crime Prevention, Compliance Monitoring and Risk Management.
Michelle’s interests outside of work include watching motorsports, having attended both the British Grand Prix and Le Mans. Michelle has also visited the majority of circuits across the UK to watch club level motorsport, come rain or shine!
